This morning, I finally saw my PCP about my persistant knee pain. Her immediate concern was that it could possibly be a blood clot. So, she prescribed a test I had never had done before, a "venous doppler". (She also yelled at me about needing to wear flat shoes, so we're going shopping tonight.)
Thankfully, Kennedy Medical Imaging was able to see me at 1:00 this afternoon for the test, which was basically like an ultrasound for my leg. The technician, Linda, could immediately tell that I have a severe case of "venous reflux" which is exactly what it sounds like: blood is flowing into my leg, but having a hard time getting back out due to a faulty valve. Apparently this is very common in pregnancy, and even more common in the left leg. Go figure. But no clots, which was a relief.
Waiting for them to send the results to my PCP (who also prescribed physical therapy) to see what other precautions I can take. I have a feeling it is going to involve some tight-fitting glamorous-looking stockings. Yikes... Anything to avoid varicose veins, I suppose.
